'Jet set juniors' taking off

'Britain is turning into a nation of "jet set juniors" with youngsters flying far more than their grandparents, it was revealed today.

Under 11s have travelled as far in their lifetimes as the over 60s, the survey from insurance.co.uk found.

More than a quarter of babies under six months old have been overseas at least four times, while 60% of children under the age of three have been on at least one overseas holiday.

In contrast, 32% of those over 60 said they had never been abroad, while 70% regretted not having travelled more.

Steve Grainger, head of insurance.co.uk, said: "Now that Government rules about term-time holidays have become so much stricter, families with school-age children are restricted to travelling during the more expensive, school holiday period.

"New parents are aware that they will not be able to benefit from cheap 'kids go free' term time deals and are making the most of extended maternity leave."
