We want Roy to be immortalised with a star on the Birmingham Walk Of Stars.
The Broad Street attraction honours entertainers from showbiz and sport.
So far, stars have been sunk into the sidewalk bearing the names of Ozzy Osbourne, funnyman Jasper Carrott, Slade warbler Noddy Holder, Black Sabbath guitar star Tony Iommi, and motor race commentator Murray Walker.
There’s been one for actor Norman Painting from The Archers, another for the radio soap itself – and movie star Julie Walters has accepted the honour, but has yet to finalise a date to see it laid.
Most recently, it’s been announced that Aston Villa’s 1982 European Cup winning team is to have a star, and online voting is ongoing to confer similar honours on Blues and the Baggies.
Crucially those awarded a star have to have a special Birmingham link.
No problem there with Woody, of course.
The pop mastermind was born in Kitts Green, and played in Brumbeat bands such as The Falcons, Gerry Levene & The Avengers and Mike Sheridan & The Nightriders.
