A GOLD dealer has been charged with handling up to £2 million of suspected criminal proceeds.

Jonathan James Hamilton, 35 and from Walsall, was arrested at one of Britain’s biggest jewellers.

Cops later found a ‘gold smelting machine’ at his £500,000-plus home, it is claimed.

The Audi-driving entrepreneur, also known as David Jonathan Bassey, runs his own business called The Gold Exchanger.

He was arrested during a visit to Lois Jewellery in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter last March.

His luxury home was also raided and smelting machinery, which can be used to melt down gold, was allegedly discovered.
