Malvern family of teenage X-Factor star Cher Lloyd furious at her engagement to hairdresser

THE family of teen pop star Cher Lloyd are said to be ‘furious’ about her engagement to boyfriend Craig Monk, 21.

A close friend of Miss Lloyd’s parents, who live in Malvern, Worcestershire, said the 18 year-old’s plans to marry the hairdresser caught them by surprise.

The pal, who did not wish to be named, told the Sunday Mercury, that Cher’s mum Dinah, 37, and dad Darren, 38, are beginning to warm to the news.

He said: “I think Dinah and Darren are coming round to the idea, but they knew nothing of it until fairly recently from what I have been told, and I think her dad was pretty furious at first.

“The way they see it, Cher is still a young girl with her whole life ahead of her, so I think they were hoping she would do this sort of thing later on in her life, especially with her career taking off in the last year or so.

“But they are dead close that lot and love Cher to bits, so I think they will support her in whatever she does and she’s a lovely girl and everyone who knows only wants the best for her.”

Cher reportedly got engaged to Craig in the run-up to Christmas.

The couple began dating in April after meeting at the Mayfair salon where he works. They soon moved in together.

A source told a national newspaper: “Cher’s been telling anyone who will listen that she’s engaged to Craig, despite originally denying the news.

“She’s head over heels and has been sporting an engagement ring since last month.”
