Solihull teen Rebecca Scott reveals why she's Got To Dance

THEY’RE the determined duo who will do whatever it takes to waltz away with a cool £250,000.

Rebecca Scott regularly travels 400 miles a week to meet up with her dance partner Lloyd Perry, because she lives in Solihull and he’s based in South Wales.

They may only be 13 years old but they are prepared to put in all the hours on the road and in the dance studio, because they are so focused on making it to the top.

They even ditched previous partners because they were too OLD.

The latest target in the sights of the former world jive champions is the £250,000 first prize in Sky1’s talent contest Got To Dance.

Their audition, where they wowed the judges with their cha cha cha, is featured in tonight’s episode. It will be their big TV break as a couple, after a chance to appear on Strictly Come Dancing was denied two years ago.

“They wanted the best UK couples in each category – the under 12s, under 16s and under 21s – to all dance together on the show,” remembers Rebecca, a pupil at Arden School.

“We did a whole day’s rehearsal. It was all sorted and then, at the last minute, they changed the date and we couldn’t do it because we were abroad. It was a real shame.”

Rebecca started ballet lessons at the age of three but preferred the Latin and ballroom classes she started at five. She was entering competitions with her first dance partner at six, and competed in the 2007 ITV1 series Baby Ballroom against Lloyd.

“That was when we first met,” explains Rebecca. “There was a big age gap between Lloyd and his partner, as she was a whole year older than him.
