Loughborough scientists invent sports bra that stops boobs bouncing

IT’S the sporting breakthrough that Midland scientists have been keeping very close to their chests.

Because after three years of painstaking research they have come up with a revolutionary new sports bra – that stops boobs from bouncing.

The news will come as a blessed relief to female competitors, including the beach volleyball teams playing at next year’s Olympic Games – although watching male fans may disagree.

The Panache Sports Bra, available in cups D to H, reduces bounce by a busting 83 per cent.

It was dreamed up by designer Clare Fallon and tested by boffins at Progressive Sports Technologies, based at Loughborough Sports Technology Institute in Leicestershire. The Midland firm used the latest 3D motion and biomechanical tracking techniques to find out how well the £35 bra worked.

During their research, a 32E model ran on a treadmill while being wired up to machines which calculated bounce reduction at 83 per cent – compared to 65 per cent for a normal sports bra.

The new invention works by encapsulating each breast, whilst also holding and supporting it. This reduces movement in all directions.

Designer Clare, who has worked for Panache for 18 years, revealed: “This was probably the hardest bra that I have ever had to design.

“There were so many elements to it and also the need to make sure it fitted well and was comfortable.
