A MEDIEVAL theme pub entombed below a Midlands shopping centre may have called last orders forever.
The Green Man is sealed up under the busy Clarillon Court mall in Loughborough, Leicestershire.
Its bar and benches are still intact, along with giant murals depicting scenes of castles and knights.
But the boozer is desperately lacking the one thing a healthy pub thrives on – drinkers.
The entrance to the ale house was closed 18 years ago and its doors later walled up during renovation work at the shopping centre.
Now mall bosses say it would cost too much to create a new access, so the boozer may never be used again.
“The pub was not working very well so it was closed,” said Baljit Kooner, Clarillon Court manager. “Then they made the changes to the centre, which covered up the entrance. The pub only has one entrance, which is down a manhole cover.
