Robbie Williams
IT was, according to the groom, a “magical” wedding.
A handful of guests, a beautiful bride and a sunset ceremony, safely away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi.
And then came the wedding album – a few cherished personal snaps.
Shared, that is, with half a million readers in the pages of this week’s Hello! magazine.
But when the groom happens to Robbie Williams, what else do you expect?
The Stoke-born star has been describing in excruciating detail his wedding to US actress Ayda Field.
“Ayda looked the most beautiful girl in the world,” he gushed to the magazine.
“The setting was so magical and to be surrounded by family and close friends, and then see Ayda appear, looking so radiant, was almost too much for me to take.”
You remember Robbie don’t you? The boy band favourite turned national treasure, whose solo career saw him win a clutch of awards and the adoration of every woman across the land.
A serial flirt whose conquests number a bevy of beauties including Joely Richardson, Rachel Hunter and All Saint Nicole Appleton, and who courted an audience of 375,000 people at Knebworth back in 2003.
A man who once proclaimed: “I hate fame. It’s not all it’s cracked up to be. I think I’m going mad. I just want to find a nice woman and settle down. I don’t know why people buy my records.”
You can, just about, forgive a D-lister for viewing their wedding as a last-gasp payday before they slip back into obscurity.
To a reality TV ‘star’ or soap actress, the promise of a six-figure deal will be enough to keep them in Burberry for a few years to come.
