West Midlands Police officer convicted of harassing former girlfriend

A WEST Midlands Police officer has been convicted of harassing his former girlfriend.

Cannock Magistrates Court heard Pc David Gray committed a breach of the peace at his ex-partner’s home in Oldbury on March 19.

Yet despite being arrested at the scene the officer continued to contact the woman, bombarding her with text messages, phone calls and e-mails for days afterwards.

Gray, 49, repeatedly begged his ex to give their relationship another chance but, the court was told, the victim found his approaches distressing.

She was particularly upset when on one occasion he turned up at her parents’ home.

The officer, who was thought to have been coming up to retirement, pleaded not guilty to harassment at the hearing on Tuesday, but magistrates convicted him.
