QUADRAPLEGIC detective Lincoln Rhyme could be on his way to Birmingham – to crack a tough murder case that has the local police baffled.

The disabled forensic expert, who was crippled when a roof fell on him, is likely to be accompanied by his sexy sidekick: crackshot cop Amelia Sachs.

The duo are the stars of crime thriller bestsellers by Chicago author Jeffery Deaver, who admits he has been having a love affair with Britain’s Second City.

In a recent Rhyme novel, the 60 year-old journalist turned crime writer based some of the action in Brum. Cops in search of a bomber raided a house in the area. And discovered a bloody murder.

Now he says he may set an entire novel in Birmingham featuring the characters immortalised by Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie in movie The Bone Collector.

During a visit to the city’s Waterstones bookstore last week, Deaver explained: “I’ve been doing these book tours in the UK for five or six years now, and I really like Birmingham.

“I’ve fallen in love with the place, and I decided it would be the right choice when I decided to bring one of my stories – The Broken Window – out of the US a couple of years back.
