A FORMER Cadbury’s Flake girl last night attacked bosses for selling the famous company to American firm Kraft and said: ‘‘It should stay in British hands.’’
Sexy Janis Levy appeared in the iconic TV adverts during the 1980s, playing a sultry gypsy girl walking through a field of sunflowers before hopping on to a horse-drawn caravan.
Now the star, who was just 16 when the commercial first appeared in 1985, has hit out following the £11.5 billion takeover of the much-loved Birmingham business.
“Cadbury will always be close to my heart as appearing in the Flake advert was the springboard for me to do so many things,” said the divorced mum-of-one.
“It’s a real shame that it looks like Kraft are taking the company over, as I feel it should stay in British hands.
“I know what American chocolate is like as I used to live in the USA and I much prefer ours.
“In fact as far back as the 1950s, I had an aunty who used to drive from Seattle to Vancouver to buy British chocolate.”
Janis, 41, saw her career go from strength to strength following her appearance in the Flake commercial, which she had landed at an open audition,
