How Jamelia gave Walsall FC striker Darren Byfield the red card

The news of the couple’s split came a mere 18 months after the pair wed in a glittering ceremony in Sussex last year.

Darren and Jamelia had previously split up briefly during their engagement after Darren was ­accused of cheating on Jamelia with glamour model Jaclyn Evans.

They released a statement on Monday which read: “It is with regret that Jamelia and Darren Byfield today confirm they are splitting up and getting a divorce.

“No one else is involved. Their priority is naturally their two children.”

The pair have a daughter Tiani, four, and Jamelia’s daughter from a previous relationship Teja, eight.

And Darren also revealed how they have now become the couple’s main focus in his internet postings.

He said: “God thanks, I thank him for my daughters, they really mean everything to me. They are our main concern, and we are both good parents, so the kids will be fine.”

Among the many other thoughts and feelings he revealed on the website he said he was looking forward to abuse from ­rival fans who had heard the news of his martial breakdown,

He said: “To be honest I like getting abuse from rival fans it makes me play better, I will only worry when it’s my own fans.

“Just thought I can’t wait to hear them chants from rival fans on a Saturday like – where’s your mrs gone, where’s your mrs gone.”

But he also revealed he was happy to be back in Walsall and focusing on the FA cup clash, saying; “It’s nice to be back in the Midlands, I suppose that made everything a little easier being back home.”
