NEC Divorce Show postponed until after Christmas - when most couples split up

AN exhibition designed to ease the painful process of divorce has been postponed until the New Year – because organisers want to capitalise on more marriage break-ups over Christmas.

The Divorce Show should have started this Friday and lasted for three days at Birmingham’s NEC.

Organisers claimed it would offer “a wealth of information, helpful advice and practical resources to an anticipated audience of 8,000 to 10,000 visitors.”

But the exhibition has been moved to February to catch the latest batch of post-Christmas break-ups.

“The feedback we got from exhibitors is that they would not be ready for September in what is a new market,” a Divorce Show spokeswoman told the Sunday Mercury.

“People make their choices in the New Year. They spend all Christmas and New Year with their in-laws and want a change. It will benefit the show to have it then.”

As well as offering practical legal advice from family law firms stalls were going to offer feelgood make-overs and even recovery holidays. A “buddy” ticket system was planned so visitors can take a friend or family member along for moral support.
