Birmingham mum's anger after son 'forced' to clean school toilet

“My husband went to the school after he heard what had happened and received an apology. But that is not the point. My son goes to school to learn, not to do things like that.

“That is the cleaner’s job – not the job of an eight year-old boy.

“I am not letting it happen again. I am disgusted by this behaviour and intend to take Isa out of the school. I’ve got no choice.”

Staff at the school have confirmed the incident took place, but stressed pupils who helped out were under no risk, as the area was thoroughly cleaned by a professional beforehand.

Breda Helm, headteacher at St Mary of the Angels, said: “As a result of a pupil regularly urinating on the floor in the boys’ toilets, the importance of good hygiene and health and safety was discussed with the children.

“All of the children agreed this behaviour was unacceptable and a monitoring system was put in place to ensure the issue was reported promptly.

“I would like to reassure parents there was no risk to the children, as the site supervisor cleaned and disinfected the area initially, at which point the children were fully supervised in helping to mop the floor afterwards.”
