Top Midlands tennis coach on child porn charges

‘‘During the period of his suspension Mr Lumb’s contract has expired and as proceedings are active we can make no further comment at this stage.’’

A spokesman for the Lawn Tennis Association said: ‘‘West Midlands tennis coach Chris Lumb has been charged with a number of offences relating to indecent images of children.

‘‘The LTA was aware of these allegations at an early stage and Mr Lumb was suspended from all LTA and Tennis Foundation duties with immediate effect.

‘‘His coach licence has also been suspended pending the outcome of criminal proceedings.

‘‘Although police enquiries are ongoing, we have no reason to think that any children are at risk, and have been advised that there is nothing to call into question the conduct of other people at this time.

‘‘If we have any reason to believe that young people are in need of support as a result of this case, we will work with the police and other authorities to ensure that appropriate and immediate action is taken.’’
