“They made me a prosthetic head and it was very weird when that appeared on set,” says April, who lives in Bristol.

“We spent three nights filming in the graveyard. Standing in a grave at 2am in the pouring rain was surreal.”

Tormented also called for her to have sex with Alex Pettyfer in a car, something his female fans can only dream of, but it was an uncomfortable experience for April.

“We were planning to do the scene on the back seat – that’s the norm, I’m told! But it was a tiny two-door convertible, so we had to do it on the front seats, with the gearstick and handbrake getting in the way.

‘‘It was very cramped and not an enjoyable experience. No reflection on Alex, he’s a good kisser!

“I have been very lucky with my leading men, starting with Nicholas Hoult in Skins. There will be lots of girls who are jealous of me. But kissing Alex was just a job.”

So what do April’s family make of her risqué roles? “My grandparents gave Skins a go but they watched it with the sound off so they didn’t have to listen to the bad language.

“I won’t be asking them to see Tormented.

They want me to do something less sexually precocious next, a nice period drama in a bonnet and corset.”
