Road-rage killer Tracie Andrews takes first step towards freedom

Birmingham Crown Court had heard how crazed Andrews stabbed Lee 37 times in a lane near their home following a night out.

She went on TV shortly after the murder and claimed the former van driver had been the victim of a mystery road rage killer.

But police were never fooled and the ex-model was later arrested and charged with murder.

Last summer it emerged that Andrews had been allowed out of prison for a short trip to a nearby hospital and taken back after about 40 minutes. A prison source said lifers lose touch with the outside world, so they are often given short visits to prepare them for eventual release.

A new photograph also emerged showing Andrews had ditched her blonde hair for a darker colour - and she had also changed her name to Tia Carter.

The moves were also seen as preparation for an early release from her life sentence.
