‘‘My mother has complete free reign in the house, although we all do spend a great deal of time in our respective bedrooms.
‘‘I certainly do not take my mother’s crutches away when she is in the house. She does have her own key to the property and is of course allowed into the kitchen.
‘‘My mother is not in fear of my family and I am clueless as why she has made these allegations.’’
Rachel also denied the claims but admitted throwing ‘half an empty bottle of water’ at the pensioner after being attacked by the OAP, as she tended to her diabetic brother.
She said: ‘‘My grandmother is often falling down and does frequently have bruises.
“They are certainly not caused by either myself, my mother or my brother hitting her.
‘‘I have to admit to one event that happened which I instantly regretted.
‘‘At the end of January 2009 my brother was suffering from a hypoglycaemic event, which rendered him virtually unconscious on the landing at home.
‘‘I was attempting to force Lucozade into him with my grandmother standing over me saying nothing was wrong. My grandmother, during the course of an argument, slapped me around the face and I, without thinking, threw half an empty bottle of water at her.
‘‘I apologise sincerely to my grandmother for this completely out of character event.’’
Andrew also denied the claims and said: ‘‘I have never intimidated, threatened or pestered her. My grandmother is easily confused.’’
Mrs Crew is currently living with daughter Sharron while her reclaimed house receives a major clean-up. She may eventually sell it so she can ‘move on with her life’.
Helen said: ‘‘When I went in there after they left I was shocked – it was not fit for rats.’’
