A force spokesman added: “A 31-year-old man from Staffordshire and a 29-year-old man from Northern Ireland were detained for two hours at Bridgewater police station before being released on bail.”
Meanwhile, a spokesman for Pontins said: “Two adults attending a dance event run by an third party organiser at Brean Sands were arrested during the night of Thursday and Friday morning last week.
“Although no charges were pursued by the police, Pontin’s has a zero-tolerance policy towards drugs. This applies to anyone on its parks and the people involved were evicted on Friday. Regrettably drugs are prevalent in all areas of our society but Pontin’s will maintain its zero tolerance policy and continue to work closely with police and other bodies to tackle this problem at all levels.”
Organisers of the Eurodance contest, Dancelines, would not comment on the situation, and said the matter was being dealt with by the Association of Dance & Freestyle Professionals.
Last night the dance association also declined to comment. “We cannot say anything about this matter,” the Sunday Mercury was told.
