Coulthard, 37, said it was imperative ministers help the illustrious firm which employs 16,000 people at its Castle Bromwich plant and thousands more at manufacturing sites nationwide.
“It’s vital the Government acts now,” the former Red Bull and McLaren driver said.
“I absolutely support a package which enables the company to have more time to restructure, move forward and make it more viable.
“It’s terrible when just one person loses their job, let alone when a company goes out of business.
“If management can’t control expenditure in a way that makes a company viable it becomes a charity not a business.
“But that’s not the case with Jaguar.
“If it closes, it will affect a lot of people not just in the West Midlands but all over the UK.
“It is vital that we ask the Government to help the company out.”
