UFOs over Halesowen - the truth!

THE truth may well be out there, but it’s not in the skies above the Black Country.

The mystery behind the sighting of dozens of bright circular objects over Halesowen was solved last night – schoolkids releasing Chinese Lanterns after a Christmas carol service.

Residents were baffled after they spotted the “UFOs” sailing across the night sky on Thursday. One even described them as bubbles rising in a fizzy drink.

But the Sunday Mercury can reveal they were in fact Chinese Lanterns released by children from Lutley Primary School, and not aliens from outer space.

Mum-of-two Sam Gibson, whose daughter Millie attends the school, laughed: “There were certainly no UFOs around that night – just the 50 lanterns that the parents and children decided to set off over Halesowen.”
