Fined for paying

MY quarterly telephone bill includes a £4.50 charge for not paying by direct debit.

This amounts to a fne. I was under the impression that only a court of law had that legal right.

How I pay my bills is my business and as long as the bill is paid on time there should be no penalty.

I contacted BT by letter, with no reply.

Is it any wonder that Joe Public is discontent?
