Drive by shooting in Birmingham City centre

A PEDESTRIAN was in a serious condition in hospital last night after being gunned down in broad daylight in Birmingham city centre.

And these exclusive pictures were taken by an eyewitness just moments after the chilling drive-by shooting yesterday morning.

They show the victim being carried into an ambulance, minutes after being hit in the chest outside Flex Fitness gym in Highgate.

Armed police had raced to the scene in Moseley Street, but the gunmen had fled.

Paramedics treated the victim in the street before taking him to hospital. He remained in a serious condition last night, although his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A witness working in a nearby office block told how she rushed to her window after hearing five shots.

The woman, who did not want to be named, said: “I was at my desk and heard the first two bangs and just thought it was a car back-firing. But then it was obvious it was something more serious.

“I got to the window and the man was flat on the ground. It was a drive-by shooting, as I heard the car screech off.

“I think he must have been using the gym because people came running out to help him.
