Jackson: Zara's gloom was nothing compared to my horse horror

ZARA Phillips was forced to pull out of the Olympics after her horse was injured in training.

In some quarters I've heard this described as unlucky.

Really?

Unlucky means not being able to afford a horse - Zara has several.

As a young whipper snapper, my ambition was to be a top horseman, unfortunately I had to hone my equestrian skills on a kitchen broom, which I rather hopefully named Red Rum.

Like Zara's steed, poor Rummy was also injured before I could ride him to glory.

My thoughtless mum broke his neck sweeping crumbs from underneath the kitchen table.
