FAR be it from me to rain on anyone’s parade, but an open-top bus tour for Birmingham City’s triumphant ball-hoofers?
Are you serious?
There’s been a hullabaloo among Blue Noses with the announcement that there will be no victory procession in the wake of the club’s win in a competition deemed so exciting it was once sponsored by Rumbelows.
Only the most churlish would seek to denigrate Birmingham City’s achievement in winning silverware for the first time since the introduction of inside loos.
And, yes, manager Alex McLeish was right to hail the efforts of his players after the victory, although his repeated use of the term “titanic” was overblown.
The defence of Rourke’s Drift was titanic – albeit the trouncing of the Zulus predated the sinking of the ocean liner by more than 30 years.
