Tyndale: West Midlands detection rates make grim reading

THE police retreat in the war on crime continues apace, thanks to bungling bosses.

The latest detection rates for the West Midlands make grim reading.

Published last week, they show a stingy one in ten burglaries was cleared up.

That means the vast majority of victims remain no nearer to knowing who wrecked their home or place of work.

More importantly, they know the perpetrator, probably a young lout with a drug habit, is still out there, plotting his next assault on human decency.

The clear up rate for other offences is equally poor.

Cops managed to solve only 15 per cent of robberies and seven per cent of car crimes. Want to know why your car insurance premiums are so high? It’s because the police aren’t doing their job.
