Tyndale: Police just sit in cars don't they?

SIR David Jason has announced that he is to end his appearances in the TV detective series “A Touch of Frost” on the grounds of age.

At the age of 68 he has decided that he is too old to continue in the role of Detective Inspector Jack Frost.

Strange that a little matter of being eight years over the official retirement age should suddenly have seemed important to Sir David. If he’s worried about credibility then surely the matter of height would have raised its head at some point over the past 16 years.

The former Del Boy actor is 5’5” or 5’6” tall depending on who you believe.

When Inspector Frost joined the force—say back in the 1960’s—this would surely have ruled him out of recruitment completely.

Of course these days there are no height restrictions at all. Since the cops are never seen in public other than sitting in a car it makes no difference at all how tall they are.
