MICK McCarthy says the international break may have come at a good time for some of his players.
Four straight league defeats have somewhat knocked the early-season wind out of their sails.
And with nine players away it provides a chance for a re-charging of batteries ahead of the Black Country derby a week on Sunday.
“That can help at times,” McCarthy said.
“I’ve been an international player and you can suffer a couple of defeats and then you go away and it’s just a break from it.
“We live in hope all the time of course.
“We’ve got Hennessey, Berra, Ward, Hunt, Doyle, Edwards, Milijas, Guedioura and Vokes away this week so that’s a fair slice of the squad.
“They will all be back on the Wednesday so we’ve got an extra day to prepare, which makes life a bit easier for us in terms of recovery times, so of course I’ll have a look at them when they come back.
