Wolves transfer update: Michael Kightly Nottingham Forest deal on hold

MICHAEL Kightly has seen a loan move to Nottingham Forest scuppered by Steve McClaren’s resignation.

Mick McCarthy revealed he had an approach from the former England boss.

“I had spoken to Steve about Kightly,’’ the manager said.

‘‘I was open to it and so was Kites. I said to him yesterday ‘you might cancel that one now, eh?

‘‘I’ve no idea what happened. I spoke to Steve and left it that if they wanted Kites then he’d be open to it.

‘They wanted a winger. We’ve got Adam Hammill and Kites and Adam was never in line to go.”
