Wolves have played their way out of trouble this season says Kevin Doyle

KEVIN Doyle says if Wolves escape the drop this season their escape will have been achieved with more of a swagger than last year.

Mick McCarthy’s men ironically head into next Sunday’s home clash with Blackburn knowing that it was against Rovers last April when they sealed their fate.

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake’s goal put them seven points clear of the drop zone and the following day their safety was confirmed when Burnley lost at home to Liverpool with just two games to play.

Wolves only scored 32 goals last season and after yesterday’s win at Sunderland have notched up 44 this season.

Doyle says the way the team has flitted between formations and the addition of players like Jamie O’Hara proves they have attacked teams more.

“Last year I would say we scrapped our way out of it,” he said. “This year I think we have played a bit more football – although we scored a goal against Tottenham last year with 20-something passes and it never got a mention!

“But I think we are now a bit more attacking, we’ve got players like O’Hara who are more attack-minded.
