CHRISTOPHE Berra says he is living the dream in the Premier League – but you won’t find any success going to his head.
The 25-year-old Scottish international has enjoyed two fine seasons in helping Mick McCarthy’s men to promotion and their highest league placing in 30 years.
“Yes, I’m living the dream,” he said. “When I was a young boy at Hearts I was always watching matches on the telly and looking at great players playing in great stadiums.
“Now I’m doing it and sometimes you can take it for granted. Your friends say: ‘That must be great playing against so and so’, ‘or this team or that stadium?’
“And I sort of say: ‘Yes’ but I don’t like getting carried away, I’m level-headed and get on with it because if you get carried away it can affect your game, so you’ve got to take each game as it comes and do your best for your team and for yourself.
“Don’t get me wrong I enjoy it, but you wake up the next day and it’s back to work.”
It’s hardly been a roller-coaster road for the Scot since his move from Hearts 18 months ago.
