Darren Moore backs West Brom and their neighbours to pull off another Great Escape

THE Mother of all Great Escapes is on the horizon according to West Brom legend Darren Moore.

Darren Moore

The former Hawthorns hero believes the beleaguered West Midlands gang of four clubs – Albion, Wolves, Villa and Blues – can ALL beat the Premier League drop.

And Moore, now aged 36, knows exactly what it takes to achieve survival.

‘Big Dave’ as he is – and always will be – known to Albion fans was part of the squad that secured survival against all the odds back in 2005.

Bryan Robson was in charge of the Baggies side back then.

After a dreadful start to his reign, Albion recovered with an impressive burst of form during the second-half of the season.

Even so it took one of the most dramatic shoot-outs to settle Albion’s fate.

They started the final day of the season in 20th spot, below Norwich, Southampton and Crystal Palace.

Albion beat Portsmouth 2-0, with Norwich and Southampton falling to Fulham and Manchester United respectively.

Palace, Albion’s only rivals were still playing when the final whistle went at The Hawthorns

But after a nailbiting few minutes news filtered through that they had been unable to sneak the winning goal which would have condemned the Baggies in their 2-2 draw at Charlton.

Moore, however, believes this season’s finale could be even more dramatic.

Albion are one of five clubs on 33 points – the Baggies are bottom of that heap based on their goal difference.
