The Big Interview: West Brom's Graham Dorrans talks to the Sunday Mercury

Graham Dorrans

GRAHAM Dorrans reckons he’s so good at taking penalties that he doesn’t need to practise from 12 yards.

The talented Scot is on red alert to take West Brom’s next spot-kick after Peter Odemwingie missed against Manchester United.

Dorrans, who took the majority of Albion’s penalties last season, is desperate to be given the nod by head coach Roberto Di Matteo as he aims to end his Premier League goal drought.

But the form of free-kick and corner taker Chris Brunt will provide the Baggies boss with food for thought.

During last season’s Championship campaign Dorrans finished as the club’s highest scorer with 18 goals – eight coming from the spot.

He shared dead ball duties with Brunt and was given the role of spot-kick taker after the Northern Ireland international missed early in the season.

But since Odemwingie’s arrival from Lokomotiv Moscow in the summer, the 23-year-old has lost the job of putting away Albion’s penalties.
