The winger reckons the Baggies have the perfect blend of youth and experience which is why they have started so well this year.

Roberto Di Matteo’s men have already picked up 22 points this season and are 11th in the Premier League.

The early accumulation of points has given them a great chance of staying in the top flight but Thomas knows the hard work is still to come.

The former Charlton Athletic wide man has spent the majority of his career in the Premier League and he is hoping Albion continue to progress this season so he can carry on playing at the highest level.

“If we look at where we are, we are well ahead of schedule but we can’t rest on our laurels,” he said.

“Complacency is the key word to avoid.

“I have seen it happen so many times – when Charlton got relegated.

“When I went there the emphasis was 40 points. I’d see us get to 40 points and take the foot off the pedal.

“It was a case of being too comfortable and it was one of the things that used to frustrate me.”
