Lescott's move is ON say Wolves

WOLVES Chief Executive Jez Moxey last night insisted that Joleon Lescott's move to Everton would go ahead this week amid suggestions that the deal is in the balance.

And he said that Wolves would not be beaten down over the fee after Lescott passed a revised medical.

Lescott secured his dream move to Goodison this week in a deal worth £5 million.

But the defender's initial examination was inconclusive and, even though he passed eventually, the deal has been put on ice over the weekend.

Sources close to the player have suggested that the whole deal may be in the balance, mirroring Birmingham striker Mikael Forssell's failure to sign for Everton last season on fitness grounds.

It has been suggested that Everton may not want to pay the asking price for the player in view of the problems.

But Moxey was last night adamant that Lescott's move would go through early this week and for the fee agreed between the clubs, £4 million initially rising by £1 million with add-ons.

"We expect Joleon's move to go through early this week and for the fee that has been agreed," he said.

"There is no suggestion that Everton have tried to beat us down over this.

"David Moyes is away on a coaching course and we will final-ise things when he returns."
