Worcester scrum-half Jonny Arr's age concern

BABY-FACED Warrior Jonny Arr has proved his abilities to Richard Hill – but still has to prove his age when he goes DIY shopping.

The 22-year-old has established himself as the first choice scrumhalf at Sixways and has started all three of Worcester’s play-off matches.

Indeed his 21 appearances under former England No. 9 Hill have taken his career total to 72 since he made his debut in December 2007.

But for all Arr’s tactical and physical development on the field, his choirboy looks continue to cause him problems off it.

And having just moved into his own house the former Worcester Mini knows that whenever he goes out to equip his new pad, he’ll need more than his bank card.

“I am asked for ID quite a lot,” Arr says. “And it seems to be for the strangest things.

“I have been done for scissors, buying a potato-peeler and a hammer and drill set in Homebase.

“All of which I think you only have to be 16 to buy, which makes it pretty bad. I literally have to stand there and get my driver’s licence out.

“I have never been refused alcohol. It just seems Homebase and HomeSense have got a thing for me.

“I’d take it as a complement if it was for 18 and over but perhaps not if you have only got to be 16 to buy something.”

But Arr takes it all in good humour and insists he has no plans to raise his profile in the city where he was born and raised.
