Jordi Pasqualin is the brains behind Moseley's brawn

I was going to get an academy contract at Gloucester,” Pasqualin said.

“I got a place at Bath Uni but have deferred that for a year, I’ll just see how things go with the rugby because Cambridge is something I can keep at the back of my mind.”

A fine mind it is too. After leaving King’s School, Gloucester with outstanding grades in Biology, Maths and Product Design the teenager is top of the class on the pitch as well and has impressed the Billesley coaching staff.

“I am really happy with everything that has happened with Moseley,” he said.

“I could not be more pleased because not in a million years could I ever have expected how much game time they have given me.

“I came into the season thinking I would get a bit off the bench while Jimmy Ireland was injured but I wasn’t sure what would happen after that.”

Ireland is back now and though Taylor remains in the picture, starts against Leeds and Esher show that Pasqualin is up there with two considerably more experienced players.

He said: “I was really chuffed to be given a start against Leeds – such a strong team. It was a good opportunity to show that I can play well at a high level and I think I did that.”
