GRAHAM Turner refused to press the panic button despite watching his promotion chasers suffer a heavy defeat.
Boss Turner admitted Shrewsbury let themselves down as they were swept aside by mid-table Aldershot – but insisted there is still time to secure a top-three spot.
“When we’re bad, we’re bad,” said Turner. “The last time we had a bad result at Torquay we bounced back with four good performances and results.”
Aldershot established a 25th-minute lead when Danny Hylton got the better of Dave Raven before firing past Ben Smith.
Before Shrewsbury knew it, they were further adrift when Ben Herd, one of their former players, let go with a 25-yarder which was deflected in off Niall Canavan.
Matt Harrold headed a golden chance off target for Shrews at the start of the second half and any hopes of an unlikely fightback were dashed 15 minutes from time when Mat Sadler shoved Jermaine McGlashan and Hylton scored from the spot.
