DEFENDERS Keith Lowe and Darren Jones scored their first goals for Hereford United who extended their home unbeaten league and cup run to eight matches with this victory over bottom-of-the-table Darlington.
The Bulls made a lively start and Mathieu Manset threaded a perfect pass to Craig King who shot just wide of the far upright.
When Darlington counter-attacked Jeff Smith crossed to the far post where Simon Thomas missed a great opening by shooting high.
In the 41st minute following a corner Hereford took the lead. Mark Pugh gave Lowe possession with a short pass and the right-back netted a fierce shot.
Two minutes after the interval Hereford extended their lead. Manset headed down Ryan Valentine’s leftwing cross to central defender Jones who gave keeper Nick Liversedge no chance with a close range shot.
In the 72nd minute, however, the Quakers got back into the game when Moses Barnet’s cross deflected off a home defender to James Collins.
A few minutes later Barnet denied Matty Plummer an equaliser, turning his header over the bar.
