UNDER pressure Cheltenham withstood a jittery start to claw back a vital point against Rotherham.
Mark Yates’ side, still smarting from an 8-1 drubbing at the hands of Crewe last week, saw their defensive frailties exposed within 12 minutes.
Jason Taylor, lurking just outside the box, drilled in a low volley past Scott Brown, sparking fears of another goal feast at their expense.
The Robins appeared nervous in defence and Brown had needed to make a flying save to push out a Tom Pope header as early as the fourth minute. Pope also had a second header cleared off the line by Martin Riley.
But the home team revealed character to dig out a point, earned with a predatory strike by Andy Gallinagh from close range just after the hour mark.
Gallinagh had been denied an early leveller by Jamie Annerson’s reflex save to tip his header onto the bar. Matt Green also rattled a post with a left foot shot just after the visitors scored while Wes Thomas forced Annerson to save well.
