THE Robins were easily routed by runaway leaders Chesterfield who stretched their advantage to 11 points at the top of League Two.
Despite a promising start, the Robins fell behind after 35 minutes when a dreadful mistake by defender Ashley Eastham allowed Chesterfield’s leading marksman Craig Davies to race through and ram home from 20 yards out.
Classy Chesterfield increased their lead on 46 minutes when the dangerous Davies shook off the attentions of Cheltenham defender Steve Elliott and squared the ball back for Kieran Djilali who smashed the ball home from the edge of the box beating goalkeeper Scott Brown at the near post.
Chesterfield duly wrapped up the points on 86 minutes when Davies turned Eastham in a crowded Cheltenham goalmouth to fire home.
Cheltenham had their moments, early on Wesley Thomas saw his close range effort cleared off the line. And in the 84th minute Thomas’ header from a Brian Smikle cross hit the woodwork.
