CHELTENHAM Town’s proud record of only one defeat in ten away games was ended in emphatic fashion at the Lamex Stadium.
The Robins produced a timid performance, failing to match the workrate and organisation of a strong and powerful Boro side.
Manager Mark Yates could barely conceal his anger as the team went 4-0 down with only 54 minutes played.
The scoring began after 16 minutes when a corner taken by Stacey Long dropped into the box and with the defence unable to get the ball clear, defender Mark Roberts swung a boot to send it into the net.
Striker Byron Harrison doubled the lead on 33 minutes when he profited from a mis-hit clearance from Danny Andrew to drive a shot beyond goalkeeper Scott Brown.
Midfielder Michael Bostwick then tucked a shot from the edge of the area in off the far post before Harrison grabbed his second of the game with a header from a Laurie Wilson cross.
