Andy Walker: Ignore the Birmingham City silly season

LAST summer, I decided to make a note of every player that was linked with a move to Birmingham City.

Whether it was from a trusted local newspaper, a national tabloid or a website, I jotted the name down just to get a measure of the speculation surrounding St Andrew’s.

I gave up when the list reached 120. Alex McLeish eventually signed eight (not including the permanent deals offered to Lee Bowyer and Stephen Carr).

So whether you’re a fan of Blues, Villa, Wolves or Albion, be sure to not take everything as gospel when the silly season really kicks into gear after the World Cup.
