Jordon Mutch has a big future, says Birmingham City boss Chris Hughton

CHRIS Hughton reckons Jordon Mutch can become Blues’ midfield magician, but has warned fans not to expect too much too soon.

The 20-year-old could be back in contention for the crucial Europa Cup tie against Maribor on Thursday after four months on the sidelines and Hughton is excited about his return.

Mutch has impressed the Blues boss during his short time at the club and has been tipped for a bright future at St Andrew’s,

Since losing Craig Gardner to Sunderland in the summer, the promotion-chasing side have struggled to score goals from midfield.

But Hughton feels that Mutch could be the man to fill that void provided too much pressure is not put on his head.

“He’s younger than what Craig would have been but he has that ability to have the impact that he had here,” said Hughton.
