Birmingham City: Chris Hughton hopes Europa form carries over into league

CHRIS Hughton is hoping his players are not the victims of another European hangover when they take on Nottingham Forest this afternoon.

Blues have not won a weekend league fixture this season after playing in the midweek Europa League and Hughton is desperate for that to change.

Heavy defeats to Middlesbrough and Southampton, and a draw against Watford, have followed Blues’ three European fixtures to date.

But the ex-Newcastle manager says it’s only a matter of time before results start to turn.

“Is it a concern, yes, but it’s only one of numerous concerns,” he said.

“At some stage, hopefully today, it will change. It’s just one of those things that will always concern you.

“The only thing you can ever do is focus on the next game.

“We hope the win (against Maribor) will help us end our current run away from home. It will certainly go some way towards it.
