BARRY Ferguson can be the key man at Wembley today as Blues look to end their 48-year wait for a major trophy.
Adored by the fans and respected by his team-mates Ferguson has been a vital player in Blues’ march to the Carling Cup final.
And he has a special bond with St Andrew’s boss Alex McLeish – who is full of praise for the way the midfield maestro has rebuilt his reputation ahead of today’s showpiece.
He arrived at St Andrew’s less than two years ago afer being stripped of the Scotland captaincy and told he would no longer be considered for international selection after well-publicised breaches of discipline.
The midfielder also had the skipper’s armband taken off him at Rangers.
