Birmingham City desperate to keep hold of Sebastian Larsson says coach Peter Grant

Birmingham City are desperate to keep hold of Newcastle target Sebastian Larsson.

First team coach Peter Grant is hoping the Sweden international stays at St Andrew’s but contract negotiations are dragging on.

Toon boss Alan Pardew confirmed that he was discussing a move with an un-named player and Larsson is believed to be top of his wish list after the Geordies abandoned their chase for Spurs outcast David Bentley.

But around half a dozen clubs are interested in the right-sided midfielder – who has been in fine form this season.

“We just hope that Seb wants to stay with us,” said Grant.

“I’m sure that’s the case and I think he’s proved that with his performances this season.

“I think Seb would obviously be keen to stay – and the club are looking for him to stay also.”
