Birmingham City's Stuart Parnaby buzzing after summer of love

FIT-AGAIN Stuart Parnaby admits that renewing his vows with Blues has capped the best summer of his life.

The versatile full-back was in top shape and good spirits during Blues’ tour of Hong Kong and China.

The journey to the Far East was just one part of a hectic couple of months for the former Middlesbrough defender.

As well as attending his brother’s wedding in San Antonio, Parnaby also got married to his partner of seven years, Paula, back in his home city of Durham.

There was further joy for the 28-year-old when he was handed a fresh one-year deal by Alex McLeish in June.

At one point, Parnaby feared for his future due to an on-going back injury that left him on the sidelines for a large chunk of last season.

However, once specialists got to the root of the problem, Parnaby was back in the first-team picture towards the end of the recent campaign and he now looks to be close to full fitness.

“This has been the best summer I’ve ever had,” Parnaby told the Sunday Mercury.

“It was nice to be fit and come back to pre-season. It’s been a good start, I’m lucky, aren’t I?

“Me and the lads are lucky to be where we are and I just don’t take anything for granted anymore.
