Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish has warned his tried and tested trio of Stephen Carr, Barry Ferguson and Lee Bowyer that they won’t be untouchable next season.
However, Big Eck believes that the winning mentality of his old heads will ensure that they will always force their way into his first team plans.
All three senior stars have impressed during this memorable Premier League campaign for the side from St Andrew’s.
What makes their form all the more impressive is that question marks were raised over all three as to whether they could still cut it in the top flight.
Not only have skipper Carr, Ferguson and Bowyer produced the goods, they have also managed to play in the majority of fixtures this season.
McLeish admits that he sees no reason why they can’t maintain that sort of consistency next season, although he insists that he will make sure they’re kept on their toes. “They’ve been very consistent in virtually all of the games,” said McLeish.
“It’s amazing that they’ve stayed injury-free. It’s remarkable but then again you look across the whole squad – Keith Fahey has played a lot of games and of course the centre-backs and Liam Ridgewell have been in there most of the season.
