Maik Taylor: Birmingham City are 'up for' Watford game

Colin Doyle will replace Taylor and Dean Lyness, fresh from a mixed bag of a performance in the FA Youth Cup defeat against Liverpool, is likely to be on the bench.

Taylor praised goalkeeper coach Dave Watson for keeping himself and the back-up goalkeepers in good condition.

“He’s a top, top coach and we all thoroughly enjoy working with him, it’s a pleasure to come in every day for training.

“It has helped me having strong competition, and that’s down to the work Watto does with us first and foremost.

“Doylie is waiting in the wings, a goalkeeper who has already proven himself, and Deano has had a great season with the youth team as well.

“You talk about a ‘goalkeeper’s union’ and it applies at the club, right the way through. We all put in a shift and, believe me, if there are areas we need to work on then Watto addresses them.”
